Ja Rules’ Prison Sentence on Hold Again!

Ja Rule, with the help of his legal team, has managed yet another extension to his sentencing date.

In a previous court date it was decided that sentencing would be moved to the 9th March, 2011 but it is now confirmed that it has been postponed again until the 8th of June, 2011!

The reasons given for the extension were that he needed to sort out his taxes and finish work on his new album.

In an interview with New York Post, his attorney, Stacey Richman, stated that “We want to finish the album, and there’s also a tax issue,” She then went on to add; “Somebody, an accountant, had filed an incorrect form, and this is to correct what was done in the past.”

Ja was sentenced to two years for criminal possession of a weapon after a loaded gun was found in a rear door of his sports car when he was stopped for speeding after a concert in July 2007. He pleaded guilty and a deal was reached for a reduced sentence on 13th of December, 2010.

After reaching the deal he updated his Twitter page with the comment “Minor setback for a major comeback”.

He will probably now serve no more than sixteen months inside and had the case gone to trial, he could have been looking at seven years.

The rumours have been confirmed! Mobb Deep’s Prodigy was released from prison yesterday (7th March 2011) after serving a three year sentence for weapons charges. The news was quickly picked up after he posted a photo on Twitter shortly after his release. (http://twitter.com/PRODIGYMOBBDEEP)

Prodigy has wasted no time and is reported to have made his way straight to the studio to link up with the other half of Mobb Deep; Havoc and the one and only Alchemist. A collaboration project is underway and excitement is growing for the reunion of Mobb Deep.

Although no longer signed to G-Unit records, 50 Cent was one of the first to give a shout out to Prodigy and he had the release photo watermarked with the ThisIs50 logo, signalling all is good between the two.

We will be following this story closely and updates are sure to follow. Bring on the old school classics!
