Born and raised in Chatham, Kent, S.Kalibre is no new-comer to the rap game. After getting into Hip-Hop at an early age he was soon influenced by the sounds of Ice-T, Krs-One, NWA, Public Enemy and other acts around this time. Being exposed to music from such a young age it wasn’t long before he started scripting rhymes. In 1999 S Kalibre met up with local producer Mike S (Slapupmill) 1999 and joined a crew called UTI (Under The Influence). The crew recorded a collection of songs which never actually saw the light of day due to financing and members relocating to other parts of the country. It was at this point Mike S & S.Kalibre formed the two man team called Hard Livin.

Hard Livin’ started doing shows all over the UK and began collaborating with other artists. They were picked up by record label called Sin Nombre and a distribution deal with Universal followed. They enjoyed various media support including plays of their promotional video ‘Oh Girl’ on TV, reviews in newspapers and magazines, as well as radio play.

Now at the age of 28, S.Kalibre is an accomplished UK artist who has worked with a host of artists from all over the UK and USA including Blade, Skinnyman, Q Unique, Daz Dillinger, Sabotage Yo Style, Scoob Rock, Junior Disprol and up and coming artists like Apocraphe, Genesis Elijah, Syndrome, Dap C, Bury Crew, Conflix, Troy Scalpels, Manage, CLG, DX, Armshouse, Baron Samedi, Natty, Wordperfect, Humark D Gritty, Stig of the Dump, Redeye, Dr Syntax, Frisko Dan, Stag P, Ironbridge and many more.

S.Kalibre has also shared stages with the likes of De La Soul, Blade, Skinnyman, Phi Life Cypher, Kashmere, Jehst and many many more. S.Kalibre is currently in the studio with producer Slapupmill working on his second mixtape and street album and working on soundtracks for up & coming cutting edge urban dramas and short films.

‘Say Peace’ is S.Kalibre’s brand new single which features Kashmere, Sonny Jim, D Gritty & Genesis Elijah and is produced by Slapupmill. This track is already causing a stir in the world of UK Hip-Hop and with some excellent remixes too from the likes of Soul Theory, Krate Krusaders & Charlie Phillips, this track is now set to do big things. Make sure you check this track and support! Support real UK talent. support S.Kalibre.

Bow Wow Bigs Up UK Hip Hop Scene

Bow Wow Bigs Up UK Hip Hop Scene

Bow Wow Bigs Up UK Hip Hop Scene

In a recent interview with MTV, Bow Wow (real name Shad Moss) shows his respect towards UK Hip Hop.

Bow Wow has just completed the UK leg of his European ‘Underrated’ tour and took some time to chat about all things music. They wasted no time and came straight to the questions that matter!

First out of the box were a couple of questions about the UK leg of the tour so far:

“What have you been up to in the UK so far?”

Bow Wow: A bunch of things. I’m on my European tour right now, that’s the reason why I’m in the UK at present. So far, I’ve been to Manchester, Birmingham and Leicester. I’ve just been on this tour every day, visiting new places, checking out new scenery. We had the first ‘Underrated’ tour show maybe like four days ago and since then I’ve spent the rest of the week partying, hosting parties and just getting it in, I’ve been out every night. “I heard you were at NO.5 Cavendish Square last night. What was that like for you? Bow Wow: NO.5 was popping! I like that little spot, it was packed! Every time I come to London it’s always a beautiful situation. I love the UK, I love London, it’s all about the people, just reaching out and connecting with them and letting them know I do it for them.

They then went on to discuss his views on the UK Hip Hop scene, and we think his answers pretty much hit the nail on the head as far as music and musical collaboration are concerned:

“What do you think of the UK music scene?”

Bow Wow: I like it, I like everything. I just respect culture. I figure hip-hop is hip-hop, it doesn’t matter if you’re from different places or different countries in the world and we’re all doing the same thing, so yeah, I like it. I know my boy Chris Brown has dealt with Chipmunk. Of course you know Cash Money have Jay Sean and I also heard about this rapper called Giggs, so UK music is definitely popping. I got girls (laughs), I got friends out here that put me on everything, so I’m only just one phone call away, they know that. And would you like to collaborate with any UK artists in the future?  Bow Wow: Most definitely, why not. Because I figure we both help each other out. I feel like it’s easier for American artists to break over here and in other countries as well, but it’s so hard for a lot of UK rappers to make it in the States. They never blow up like we know they should. But it’s important that in hip-hop we all work together, and if I collaborate with an artist from the UK, it will help me become more successful here and vice versa. So it’s a win, win situation.

UK artists have been gaining more exposure and respect from the US market in recent years but can still end up taking a back seat. It’s always good to hear that there is respect and support from artists across the pond!
