Lil Wayne Not Feeling His Swizz Beatz Collaboration ‘Dear Anne’

The Swizz Beatz collaboration titled ‘Dear Anne (Stan Part 2)’ was leaked a couple of weeks back and received a positive response but Weezy explains that he doesn’t like the track, mainly because it features old material and he doesn’t believe he has done the concept justice.

In an interview with Miami’s Hit Factory Lil Wayne explained:

“That was actually a record for Tha Carter III that just leaked. It leaked out and everybody’s thinking that it’s going on Tha Carter IV ’cause I was actually gonna put it on Tha Carter IV . But I had been listening to it and didn’t like it. I don’t like it ‘cause the song, all the verses are old. And me being a perfectionist, I hate going with old verses.”

He then continued to acknowledge the acclaim it had received, including props from his right hand man, Cash Money’s Mack Maine and his manager Cortez Bryant:

“Mack and Tez and them, they love it,” he said. “They be like ‘Man, you trippin, you killed it.’ I be like, ‘Did you hear what I just said? I don’t wanna do that anymore.’ But I heard that the ‘Anne’ song has been getting buzzed up and everybody’s buzzin’ about it so it might end up one of those you might have to put on the album, you know what I mean. But I ain’t trippin’ on it like that; I don’t like the song. I love the beat; I love the idea. I don’t like my execution. I don’t like what I did, I don’t like how I delivered on it. The idea that I had for it, I didn’t accomplish that, what I thought I was gonna do. ‘Cause I was tryna make it a situation song. And I just don’t like it.”

‘Dear Anne’ is still a great track but after hearing Weezy’s thoughts you can understand where he’s coming from. The beat is deep but the concept is lacking a real storyline. Maybe he should revisit it and drop a new release with Tha Carter IV?

Stealf – The Mixing Bowl – Reviewed

Posted by Tom On June - 20 - 2011

Ok so usually when u hear that someone is knocking out a FREE set of tracks for your listening pleasure amid the first reactions of being grateful and pleased that it’s free, you also begin to think about the first time you were told “If it seems too good to be true it probably is” …. however this doesn’t apply here.

This 9 track banger is absolute FIRE and contains something for absolutely everyone, the only way you are not going to feel this is if you have no love of Hip Hop whatsoever.

This is a complete encapsulation of everything Hip Hop should be,  the best in the business doing their thing with Stealf at the wheel driving some thumping beats adding his unique twist on such classics.

It is a composition of tracks of which everyone will have a favorite and is the perfect companion for anyone who has a musical device to turn up loud !!

With all the heavy hitters of the hip hop world on “The Mixing Bowl” it seems a given that this was going to work, but there is a sense of responsibility with such  material and a great pressure to do each track justice when you have such names as Game, Joe Budden, Jim Jones, Lil Wayne, Kayne West and Jay Z to name but a few, featured on this epic compilation of Stealf remixes.

Our personal favorites out of this bunch have to be “The Announcing of a classic” – Jay-Z and Kanye West and “Hello West Coast” – Game, Dr. Dre & Ice Cube, these tracks will take you back to the good old days of Hip Hop and will show you how a remix can revive the memories of classic tracks, with a modern twist that makes you want to bump out these beats all over again.

“The Mixing Bowl” is an absolute banger that you need to have on your tracklist, we cant get enough of this and it seems to go harder every time you listen to it…… this a 10/10 composition of the best by the best …. hats off to Stealf he has done it again.

“The Mixing Bowl” Track List.

As the release of Game’s long awaited R.E.D. album draws ever closer, BET and MTV are reported to have opted to ban the music video for “Red Nation.”

Lil Wayne is set to become embroilled in yet another lawsuit over royalties paid out to producers for work on his album “Tha Carter III” .

In recent events the Young Money frontman has seen himself caught up in a number of legal battles relating to the album. Lil Wayne has already faced legal pursuits over the track “lollipop” after producer Jim Jonsin  who co-produced the hit track filed a lawsuit against Wayne and Young Money  for not being paid for his contributions to the track.

Wayne also had to remove one track (“Playing with fire”) because of the extreme similarities to the rolling Stones “Play With Fire”. However it is now the track “Lollipop” which is coming under the microscope again along side other tracks from the album “Whip It,” “Prostitute 2,” “Action,” “Mrs. Officer,” and “Let The Beat Build.”

Premier of Chris Browns’ ‘Look at Me Now’ Video

The new video for ‘Look at Me Now’, featuring Busta Rhymes and Lil Wayne has been premiered.

The video starts with Breezy stood wearing a mirror mask in a cage before dropping into a dance routine in the club.

Chris takes the first verse on the track, showing off his lyrical ability before leaving it to Busta and Weezy to keep up the fast flow.

A pre-final edit of the video originally leaked earlier in the week and Breezy explained via Twitter that it was “not the final edit”, following up with the comment: “How does a video leak? Cmon son.”

There appears to be a mole in the Breezy camp as this is just the latest in a series of leaks over the last few weeks. There was a leak of a duet between him and Justin Bieber as well as a naked picture of him also running the circuit on the web!

Pennsylvania rapper Wiz Khalifa has hit out at Lil Wayne insisting that the Young Money founder missed a chance to recognize his hard work  leading up to the Super Bowl.

HipHopDX.com reports that although Wiz Khalifa seemed agitated by this, he insisted there was no ill feeling between them and that Lil Wayne’s suggestions of re-making Khalifa’s “black and Yellow” track was not in response to past problems with Young Money’s Tyga .

“Nah, not at all. I don’t think it had anything to do with that,” he stated. Although he did mention that Wayne missed an opportunity in an interview that aired days before the Super Bowl to show acknowledgement “I’ve seen the interview, I think it’s just the case of what a lot of older dudes do now…this is just me being real by saying this, they try to act like they don’t know who I am, or try to act like I don’t know what I’m doing,” Wiz stated. “Because when [ESPN] did the interview with [Lil] Wayne, he was [saying] that he heard the song from the [Pittsburgh] Steelers – he heard it ’cause it was my song, but he didn’t say that. He had an opportunity to step up and say that, and he didn’t.”

Although it clearly has caused him some form of anguish, Whiz Khalifa appeared to remain adamant that he had no bad feeling over the situation and had no problem with Wayne or Young Money,

“I don’t feel any type of way about it, but I recognize it for what it is. It is what it is, but there’s never any problems between me, Wayne or any of his [Young Money] artists, because I’m just so positive. We both have movements and things that we need to tend to, and there would be no point in having tension with each other when we have people who look up to us, that we need to satisfy.”

Wiz Khalifa is set for his major label debut on 29th March with “Rolling Papers” on Rostrum/Atlantic Records.
