Eminem’s Northern Ireland Debut Brings Back the Controversy with a Potential Boycott

Eminem finally confirms his long awaited debut in Northern Ireland, only to have it boycotted by the locals. The fear raised amongst the community is that his performance will conflict with a prayer service at the 75th anniversary of the Bagnor Missionary Convention.

The show, scheduled for the 24th of August 2011 at the Tennent’s Vital, Ward Park has already sold over 55,000 tickets but no entertainment licence has yet been granted.

The Belfast Telegraph has reported that locals intend to lobby the North Down Borough Council and call for the Debut performance to be cancelled. It has been reported that a meeting was scheduled today (24th June 2011) to address concerns and hopefully, reach an agreement that benefits all involved.

More on this story as it progresses.

‘Bad Meets Evil’ EP Set For June Release.

Posted by Tom On April - 26 - 2011

To many this title stirs thoughts back to the 1999 Slim Shady lp, when Eminem and Royce Da 5’9 collaborated on a lyrical masterpiece which helped Eminem to lay his legendary footing.

But now this title can be seen as a highly anticipated  EP of which will see the pair re-unite. Although this EP has been explored before as Eminem and Royce were set to capitalize on the success of the ‘Slim Shady LP’, however the project was never released and a rift between Eminem and Royce laid the project to rest.

In a report from Allhiphop.com Eminem explains how the process came together again,
“Royce and I started hanging out again and inevitably that led us back into the studio,” Eminem stated “At first we were just seeing where it went without any real goal in mind, but the songs started to come together crazy, so here we are.”
After nearly 10 years after their first collaboration together, they have come back better than ever on this highly anticipated EP which will be in stores on June 14th.

The untitled EP will see production from D12′s Mr. Porter, Mobb Deep’s Havoc, Bangladesh, DJ Khalil and more.

“I’m excited to see this project come to fruition considering the long lapse in time between when we worked before and now,” Royce da 5’9 said “We had a blast doing it and we just hope everyone enjoys it while we’re working on the ‘Monster’ that will be the Slaughterhouse album.

Eminem amongst stars alleged to be appearing at the Haiti charity concert

Managers and representatives of some of the biggest names in music are reported to be angry at their artists and acts they represent being named in the lineup for ”Celebrities for Haiti Legends Weekend” despite no bookings being arranged.

Representatives of Eminem, Fabolous and Justin Timberlake have reacted angrily after the event  that was supposed to take place at the Punta Cana Hard Rock Hotel in the Dominican Republic on April 29th have named their acts in the lineup, despite the management and representatives of these artists having insisted that no bookings have been made and sparked infuriating responses from those representing such artists.

It is also reported that representatives of Jon Bon Jovi and Marc Anthony are considering legal action against claims that they would be participating at the event.

These representatives for such artists are now fearing that the names of such big musical influences are being used to enable the organisers of the event to pocket donations received.

Eminem Could Receive an Extra $30 Million in Royalties From F.B.T. Productions Lawsuit

Eminem Could Receive an Extra $30 Million in Royalties From F.B.T. Productions Lawsuit

F.B.T. Productions, the outfit accredited with discovering Eminem in 1995 and producing many of Em’s tracks filed a lawsuit back in 2007. The claim was that Aftermath did not have the right to distribute the music digitally to people such as Apple and other providers.

Universal Music Group (UMG) filed an appeal with the 9th Circuit Court in 2010  after Eminem and F.B.T. Productions were awarded half of the royalties of digital downloads. The appeal was overruled and UMG took their case to the Supreme Court who refused to hear the appeal.

During an interview with the New York Times, Joel Martin explained:

“As of now it’s worth $17 million or $20 million, but on a future accounting basis, five or 10 years from now, it could easily be a $40 million to $50 million issue,”

This type of case raises many questions over how royalties are distributed and reinforces the fact that the music industry has and is still changing. Digital distribution has changed the music industry in so many ways, both from a positive and a negative perspective and the future of the industry is almost certainly intertwined with how the major labels choose to embrace the digital age.

Detroit Megastar Eminem is the latest in a long line of musical stars to express his great sadness at the passing of Nathaniel Dwayne Hale, better known by his stage name “Nate Dogg”.

Eminem appeared along side Nate Dogg and his distinctive recording voice on numerous occasions including one of Eminem’s biggest tracks ‘ Till I Collapse’ .

Speaking to E! Online Eminem said:

“Nate’s voice in music will never be replaced. He helped create the blueprint for West Coast hip-hop, and I was one of the lucky people who had the privilege to work with him and the honor to have him as a friend, Nate will be sorely missed. My condolences and prayers go out to his family and loved ones.”

Although no cause of death has been officially announced, it is widely believed that the music legend died of natural causes as a result of his weakened condition caused by suffering 2 strokes in 2007 and 2008 .

Slaughterhouse Are in the Booth Confirms Royce Da 5’9

This is the second release for the crew and the first to be released through Eminem’s label, Shady Records.

Slaughterhouse, comprises of Royce Da 5’9, Joell Ortiz, Joe Budden and Crooked I. All four MC’s have solo careers aside from the group and have been utilizing technology to keep in touch while recording the album.

According to Royce, they have managed to bash out six tracks over just a few sessions in LA whilst making an appearance at the Grammy Awards.

In a recent interview with MTV’s Billboard, Royce gave some insider info on the progress of the so far untitled album and also confirmed Eminem’s excitement with their progress. Royce was quoted as saying:

“He’s (Eminem) very excited and I’m always excited when I see his level of excitement, because he doesn’t get excited about a lot,”

Royce also explained that Slaughterhouse had to complete the recording of their first album in just eight days but they aim to take their time with this one.

This is undoubtedly an album to watch out for as it includes four awe-inspiring rappers and with the backing and support of Hip Hop legend Eminem we expect nothing less than greatness.
