The Atlanta rapper was officially released from Forrest City , Arkansas low security federal Prison yesterday, and was reported to be checking in to Dismas Charities Atlanta West correctional centre where he will serve 3 months.
The rapper was sentenced to 1 year in prison after an incident in october 2007 after the rapper gave money to a bodyguard to supply him with 3 machine guns and 2 silencers. The rapper could have faced up to 10 years after handing over nearly $21,000 to the bodyguard who had purchased as many as 25 guns for the rapper prior to the BET awards. As a convicted felon, T.I is prohibited from purchasing or carrying firearms.
The rapper pleaded guilty to several weapons charges in March 2009 and received 1 year in prison as part of a plea bargain reached with the prosecutors.
Once released from Dismas Charities Atlanta West, the rapper must complete 500 hours of community service and a further 23 days house arrest.
It is expected that T.I will return to work during his 3 month stay at the halfway house.
