Stealf Diary Update: The Past Week And Beyond.

Posted by Tom On April - 12 - 2011

That time has come people when we catch up with UK production talent Stealf to see what has been going on and what we can get excited about.

First on our checklist was the upcoming LP “The Artful Dodgers” from U.S artist Solomon , we asked Stealf about the progress so far ,

“Right now the LP is still being mixed and mastered. This process can take a while though. It’ll probably go to and fro for a while until we’re happy it sounds as good as it can. I know how tricky this can be too, my album is on it’s third trip to the mastering studio. If there’s one stage worth taking your time on, it’s the final mix and master.”

With the the process of  “The Artful Dodgers” still some way from completion, we were keen to discover what else Stealf has been up to and what is cooking right now in the Stealf kitchen,
“While that’s been going on, I’ve been working on my EP with JackitDown Brown. That’s coming along really nicely. It’s going to be 5 tracks deep and promises to be something for every hip hop fan to appreciate. I’m putting together some beats for the project with my artist Clas-Sick too, so that should kick off soon.” Stealf then informed us of a new addition to his label, stating  ”I’ve also signed a new artist to my label, JR Delorean, and we’re due in the studio soon to put some new music out from him too.” Speaking on recent activity stealf also informed us of another gem from his archive, “I’ve also just seen the video for Never Look Back, a track I did with Dap C and Phil Ashmore, which is due to be the first track on Dap’s new album. It was all shot in New York and is probably the best track Dap and I have done together.”

This prompted us to quiz Stealf on his previous work, askin about which tracks mean most to him,

“One of the tracks I’ve made that mean the most to me is “Respect Me” which features G Unit/Infamous artists 40 Glocc, Bo Roc, Dap C and RH Bless. It’s special to me for a few reasons, firstly, it was the first track I made that featured an established artist, it was also the first track I did that featured a male vocalist on the hook and last but not least, it all happened through Havoc. Back in the days of Myspace, Havoc dropped me a message and told me he really liked my beats and would I like to work with one of his guys, an opportunity I didn’t waste any time taking him up on. I wanted him on there as well, but his price was a bit out of my budget. So I sent the beat to 40, and within about 2 weeks, I had his vocals back. Then Dap and RH Bless laid their verses and all I needed then was a hook. I was put in touch with Doveshack artist Bo Roc through a friend and he was down to do it. He had done some work with 40 before, and delivered something really special. The track has been out there a while now, and it’s also a bonus track on my album.”   See below for the full track.

Considering his current success and willingness to work with any true lovers of hip hop, we decided to ask Stealf what a client could expect when working with him ,

“I like to think of myself as a producer that does all the aspects of the job. Too many “producers” these days just make beats, but I go the extra mile for my clients. Aswell as providing the beat, I can/will also provide a concept and a format, as well as get other artists on board if needed, I will also reprogram the beat once I’ve got the artists vocals back so the beat is tailored to the artists verses. I like to get the track mixed down and ready to go to mastering, this way, both myself and the artist(s) involved can have a say throughout the entire process. It works best for everyone that way.”

Big thanks to Stealf for his continued support and contribution to Finebeats.com, stay locked to discover more about an individual is about to make HUGE waves within the industry and happy to share his journey step by step.
