It has been reported that recently freed rapper Shyne has signed a seven figure deal with def Jam Records.
It was reported that there was a bidding war going on between Dr Dre, Jimmy Iovine and other labels to secure the release of Shyne’s first album since 2004.
It has also been mentioned that Shyne is being represented by HipHopSince1978, the same company who currently manage the careers of such caliber as Drake, Young Jeezy and Lil Wayne.
Reports also state that Shyne is planning on recording his album in London despite him being refused entry into the country recently, due to alleged discrepancies with his immigration papers.
This will be the second time that Shyne has signed a big deal with Def Jam as he signed a 7 figure deal with them back in 2004 with ‘Godfather Buried Alive’.
Shyne first release came in 2000 with the self titled album ‘Shyne’ but his career stopped almost as quickly as it started as he was imprisoned for two counts of assault, reckless endangerment and gun possession, after the high profile 1999 nightclub shooting, which also involved Sean “Diddy” Combs and his then girlfriend, Jennifer Lopez.
