Yesterday marked the 22nd birthday of slain rapper Dolla. The occasion was marked with a new mixtape titled ‘The miseducation of Dolla’.
Dolla (real name Roderick Anthony Burton II), was gunned down outside the Beverly Centre on May 18th 2009.
Police arrested his killer Aubery Louis Berry, a matter of hours after the shooting as he tried to board a flight to hometown Atlanta from Los Angeles airport.
The slain rappers mother reportedly spoke with her son just hours before he was killed , to ask him what he wanted to eat that evening. It is reported that she was preparing his meal for him when she received the call that he had been shot.
It has been alleged that Dolla was a member of the ‘crips’ street gang, a claim of which his mother strongly denies, saying he was simply into Hip Hop music.
Berry is reportedly being held on $2 Million bail, and has denied murder, after claiming that he acted in self defence when Dolla and his associates threatened him.
Despite the denial of murder, prosecuters are reportedly seeking the death penalty for the murder of the young rapper .
