Over the years, Weezy has made a habit of racking up lawsuits. He’s been sued by Karma-Ann Swanepoel for sampling “Once” on “I Feel Like Dying,” and Darius “Deezle” Harrison for royalties on “Mrs. Officer”. He’s been sued over his use of the Rolling Stones song “Play With Fire”. He’s been sued by a New York Concert promoter for $1.3 million after managing to miss three concerts… The list goes on!

His most recent dispute comes at a tough time for the rapper as he is incarcerated in New York’s Rikers Island Prison. This latest court case comes from producer Jim Jonsin over royalties to Wayne’s hit song “Lollipop”. Jonsin claims that he has yet to receive so much as a cent for his work on one of Lil Wayne’s most popular singles.

According to an article from the New York Post, Jonsin is suing Weezy for $500,000. This isn’t the first time the two have been in a dispute. Wayne previously blamed Jonsin for not solidifying the right to use a sample which incited the lawsuit from Karma-Ann Swanepoel. This cannot be welcome news for good ol’ Weezy but we would expect nothing less!

Curtis Young, son of Aftermath CEO Dr. Dre is set to release his official debut album ‘Product of my DNA’.

Young, AKA ‘Hood Surgeon’, met his father when he was 21 and was inspired. He explained how meeting his father completely changed his perspective and left him with the desire to “take over the legacy”.

In his own words he explains; “My world became complete when I finally met my father at the age of 21. I am extremely grateful for my father paving the road for me and many other artists. I feel privileged to have the opportunity to take over a legacy. As a producer, my father has set extremely high standards to existing and upcoming producers all over the globe but my hard and dedicated work will show everyone that I deserve the name Young,”

Young aims to set a new standard for artists coming out of Southern California and believes that he represents a change in the genre.

“People can expect a new trendy look from me. I represent a new era of positive feel good music for the West Coast. I am a new generation of Left Coast artists who can not only rap but produce as well. In the future, my company Young Entertainment Inc, will set high standards and create another element for the Hip Hop world so get familiar!”

DJ Premier has spoken out on the death of his former partner and Gangstarr member Guru. The pair released to highly successful albums together as Gangstarr, before they split.

The departing letter by Guru see’s the recently deceased former Gangstarr member speaking on his illness which claimed his life and his family and friends, as well as leaving departing words for DJ Premier which saw Guru state that DJ Premier was to have nothing with Guru’s name, nor was he to ever release anything in terms of a tribute, and that appointed persons in the form of Solar and his son (when old enough) were to accept any achievements for him and deal with any tributes.

After his recently publicized health issues, reports have confirmed that Guru from the legendary Hip Hop partnership Gangstarr has died, after loosing his battle with Cancer.

Guru real name Keith Elam died yesterday (Monday, April 19th) aged 43.

Guru’s partner Solar has expressed his deepest sadness over the passing,

“The world has lost one of the best MCs and Hip-Hop icons of all-time — my loyal best friend, partner, and brother, Guru,” Solar said in a statement. “Guru has been battling cancer for well over a year and has lost his battle! The highly anticipated concert in the U.K featuring Nas and Damian Marley has been cancelled due to the huge Ash cloud that has been emitted from a volcano beneath the Eyjafjallajokull glacier in southern Iceland.

The volcanic eruption has been causing concerns since March the 20th, after the volcano itself has been dormant for over 200 years.

Since the initial eruption, the huge cloud that has formed has since disrupted thousands of flights across Europe.

The vocanic eruption has also affected Usher’s plans as the singer was due to start a promotional tour in the U.K this week to promote his latest #1 track OMG, but due to the eruption this has been cancelled.

Alchemist was yesterday at the centre of a fresh beef debate after the Producer updated his twitter status regarding Game’s latest ‘400 bars’ offering saying,

“400 bars=snooze. Less is more.”

A further update then added,

“I just got jumped by 75 bloods at the 7-11. thanx alot [Game].”

Not being one to lie down and accept this a tweet from Game himself in response read,

“[Alchemist] you already know me ALAN, don’t get ya teeth knocked out !!! then you can Snooze 4 real!”

Since then Alchemist has updated his twitter stating,

“For the record I don’t have actual beef with @Ihategame. That’s my brother! He was on my 1st album dummies remember.”

There has been no further word from Game himself on the subject, but we will keep an eye out and update should anything further develop.

Following Shyne’s choice to release a diss track titled ‘ Fuck 50 Cents’, Lloyd Banks had hit back at Shyne in defence of the G-Unit founder. In an interview with Miss Info, Banks defended 50 claiming he wasn’t even bothered about the track and then took the chance to take a shot at Shyne himself,

“I spoke with Fif today, he just laughed about it. I heard some other things that Shyne put out and I’ll be the first to tell you and the world, he’s very, very wack. I’m telling you right now, it was something in the food or something, he’s at a D-Class rapper right now. You know how the dude that wakes up and ‘I’m a rap right now because my homie’s doing it.’ You don’t hear it? What kind of style he’s got right now? I’m not digging that right now. I didn’t know what to think,” he states.

There is no shock behind the tension between 50 and Shyne as they have had their tensions before, with Shyne attempting to go after 50 in 2004 while incarcerated with a track called ‘I need a couple million, Fuck 50 Cents”.

Shyne now a free man is currently recording his upcoming album and has just released his first singe ‘Messiah’, from the album which saw him ink a 7 figure deal with Island/Def Jam

As for 50 he is currently working on his 5th studio album ‘Black Magic’ with Shady/Aftermath/G-unit .

Friday afternoon saw Scott Storch’s Bluewave group issue a press release sayin that the producer will reunite with Compton Legend Dr Dre and megastar Jay-z on the highly anticipated upcoming track ‘Under Pressure’, the first single from Dr Dre’s ‘Detox’ album.

Rumours surrounding the track have circulated constantly since Dr Dre and Interscope’s Jimmy Iovine confirmed the identity of the track at Fenway park, during the opening day of the Major League baseball season

Bluewave president Derek Jackson made a statement saying,

“To see Scott Storch and Dr. Dre back together, signifies the change in the music industry climate as we know it, This will definitely get the industry back in step with the world.”

Scott Storch has worked previously with Dre on a number of tracks, including ‘Still Dre’ and Eve’s ‘Let me blow you mind, as well as working with Jay-Z, Gucci Mane and Outkast’s Big Boi.

With the ‘Under Pressure’ track looming ever closer we look forward to hearing what this reunion is set to bring.

DJ Vlad was awarded $300,000 yesterday, after the courts ordered Rick Ross to pay the sum in damages following an assault he suffered at the hands of Rick Ross back in 2008.

It stemmed from an incident where DJ Vlad attempted to interview Ross about his alleged history as a correctional officer. Ross and members of his crew then met DJ Vlad and attacked him leaving Vlad with seven stitches to his face 3 facial fractures and other damage.

Appearing in New York Federal Court yesterday Ross was found liable for $50,000 in compensatory damages and $250,000 in punitive damages.

Via twitter Vlad reported “Today is a good day”

Thus far there has been no comment from Ross.
