This week sees the Finebeats talent quest hit America again. This time with the heavy stylings of Sam and Jay who together are  Thorotracks, a duo who have been making some substantial waves in the underground scene. We thought it was high time that we had a catch up and discussed their take on the hip hop scene, and events past and present.

Finebeats : How would you describe your work ?

Thorotracks : Hard 90’s Hip-Hop at its best!

Finebeats : What was it that inspired you to enter the Hip Hop scene ?

Thorotracks : The Hip-Hop that we grew up with! Watching Yo MTV raps and Rap City.
Listening to D.J. Red Alert and Kid Capri onthe Radio!

Finebeats : In that time what do you feel has changed about the industry ?

Thorotracks : There’s more money to make in the game now so people follow a formula to get that, instead of making quality music.

Finebeats :Do you Think that the industry has been damaged by the commercialisation
of the game ?

Thorotracks : Yes and no. Hip-Hop is worldwide, without the commercialisation of the industry, it might not have grown as much. But, it also suffered musically by the people who came in the game just to make money!

Finebeats : How badly do think it has been hit ?

Thorotracks : Poor album sales and downloading prove how bad the industry has been hit.

Finebeats : Do you think that alot of the industry is now more about the money than
the music ?

Thorotracks : Yes, most definitely!

Finebeats : What would be  your ultimate goal to acheive before the end of your HipHop
career ?

Thorotracks :Definitely to get that Plaque.

Finebeats : To date what is your favourite track you have worked on ?

Thorotracks : Rise Up By Shabaam Sahdeeq we got our biggest response off that record and it was the beginning of a lot of great music and also a genuine friendship.

Finebeats : It’s no secret you have worked with sum great artists, who would you say
was your favourite and why ?

Thorotracks : Theres so many its hard to say but one would definitely be Blaq Poet. Even thought we
were fam before music hes a legend and always brings that real grimmy hiphop
that we grew up on.

Finebeats : Are there any specific artists you would like to work with ?

Thorotracks : There are lots to name a few Scarface, Ghostface, Redman, MOP, Raekwon & many more….

Finebeats : What do you feel is the hardest part of breaking into the Hip Hop industry ?

Thorotracks : Trying to get and keep peoples attention!

Finebeats : How did you catch your first break in the industry ?

Thorotracks : Meeting Royal Flush and also Blaq Poet. Those were the first rappers that
took a chance with our music.

Finebeats : What would you say was the best live performance you have participated in
Are there any specific venues that stick in your mind ?

Thorotracks : We did an album release party for Royal Flush at BBkings which was real dope featuring a lot of dope mcs including Large Pro, Pete Rock,Ill Bill, Mic Geronimo, Killa Sha, Smif &Wesson & More….

Finebeats : Now that 2010 is upon us what can we expect to see from you ?

Thorotracks : The Closers mixtape, album and hopefully more placements on albums.

Finebeats : Are there any projects which are particularly exciting for you ?

Thorotracks : The Closers album!!! All Thorotracks Production, Shabaam Sahdeeq and Red Eye spittin heat!!!

Finebeats : Many thanks for your time, look forward to hearing more from you throughout 2010 and beyond, please feel free to leave any closing comments and shoutouts that you would like published .
