As many have waited eagerly to see 50 Cent’s latest offering ‘before i self destruct’, it has been reported that the US rapper’s latest album will fall short of hitting the number 1 spot, based on projected sales figures.
It has been reported that 50 will fall in behind chart topping John Mayer who is said to be looking at projected figures of around 275,000 – 300,000 with ‘battle studies’, whilst the G-Unit CEO is expecting a considerably lower 160,000 .
The latest album ‘ before i self destruct’ has suffered a number of set backs since the original announcement in February 2008, and was even pushed forward following album leaks In october, making for a November 16th release as opposed to 23rd .
If Projected Figures stand true then this will be 50’s lowest first week album sales to date . This does beg the question as to whether 50 still has the imagination and content to capture the attention of the die hard Hip Hop community.
Has 50 lost his midas touch ? We think not but if in 50’s shoes we would definitely be looking for something to rekindle the fast paced sales of previous album smashes .
